You've Created The Perfect Plan
So Why Aren't They Following It?
You know Metabolic Balance inside and out. You've reviewed the blood work, created the individualised food list, walked your client through the phases and explained exactly why each rule matters.
And still, you find yourself sitting across from a client thinking...
There's something else going on here.
Maybe it's the client who sailed through the phase 2, then slowly unravelled once the structure loosened. Maybe it's the client who knows their food list off by heart, genuinely wants the result, and still finds themselves reaching for the foods they swore they were done with. Or maybe it's the client who reached their goal, felt amazing, and then quietly drifted back to where they started.
It's not that they don't care, and it's not that the plan isn't right. You can sense there's something deeper going on... you just don't know what the next step is.
That's the gap Emotion Release Technique™ was created to fill.
TRAINING FOR METABOLIC BALANCE PRACTITIONERS
Why a personalised plan isn't always enough, and what else may be influencing your client's cravings, follow through, results and ability to maintain them.
Created for Metabolic Balance practitioners who want to support the whole person, not just the plan.

What If They Don't Need More Information?
Your clients aren't short on information. Metabolic Balance gives them some of the clearest, most individualised guidance they'll receive. And yet you're probably already seeing this other layer in your practice, and it tends to show up in two ways.
It shows up in their body.
The client who is following the plan to a T, and the scales still aren't moving. The one whose weight stalls every time life gets stressful, even though they haven't changed a thing. The client whose digestion, sleep or energy shifts around particular relationships, situations or seasons of life. The client whose body seems to be holding on, almost as if it doesn't feel safe to let go. The client who feels wired and exhausted at the same time, no matter how well they're eating.
And it shows up in their behaviours.
The client who starts the strict phase with so much motivation, then finds it harder and harder to stay on track. The one who eats emotionally when they're overwhelmed, or feels the pull of old foods despite knowing exactly what their body needs. The client who feels restricted or rebellious the moment they're handed a food list. The client who feels like they lose themselves the moment they're at a family dinner or out with friends. Or the client who gets the result, and then can't seem to hold onto it, and finds themselves starting all over again.
Underneath both, you'll often find the same things. Stress responses. Emotional drivers around food, control and comfort. Beliefs and identities around their body, their weight and who they are when they finally feel good. Previous experiences with dieting that are still quietly running the show. And that frustrating misalignment between what a client says they want and what they're actually doing.
This is the layer that so often goes unaddressed. Not because practitioners don't care, but because most of us were never taught how to work with it.
And when it isn't addressed, your client is left to make sense of it on their own. They start to believe the plan didn't work, or worse, that they didn't work. That they just need more willpower, a stricter approach, the next quick fix, or that a GLP-1 is the only thing left to try. The real conversation about what's happening underneath never gets to happen, and the cycle quietly continues.
So when the plan is right, and your client still isn't getting the result, where do you look next?
You don't need to change the way you practise Metabolic Balance. You need another way of understanding what may be influencing your client's experience of it, and the skills to know what to do with what you find.
Introducing The ERT Practitioner Pathway
Emotion Release Technique™ (ERT) gives practitioners a structured way to assess and facilitate the emotional, subconscious and nervous system responses that may be influencing a client's presentation.
ERT isn't about guessing, deciding what a craving or a plateau "means", or assuming you already know the emotional reason behind someone's experience. Two clients can be on the very same phase, struggling with the very same thing, and have completely different things going on underneath it. That's exactly why we don't work from a list of meanings.
We assess the individual. Which, as a Metabolic Balance practitioner, is a philosophy you already understand so well.
ERT gives you a process to follow so you can get curious about what's happening beneath the craving, the resistance, the sabotage, the plateau or the pattern, while continuing to work within your existing skill set. It doesn't replace Metabolic Balance. It gives you another lens through which to understand the person following it.
Become The Practitioner Who Knows Where To Look Next
This isn't about becoming a different kind of practitioner. It's about expanding the practitioner you already are.
Imagine being in a check in, hearing your client say "I just don't know why I keep doing this," and actually knowing where to go next.
Because so many practitioners know that moment well. The plan is right, the client is committed, and still something isn't shifting. And if you're honest, that's when the doubt creeps in. You start wondering whether you explained it well enough, whether you should have pushed harder, or whether it's somehow on you. Over time, those moments can quietly chip away at your confidence, even though you're a skilled and caring practitioner.
ERT gives you somewhere to go in those moments. Instead of doubting yourself, you have a structured assessment process you can trust.
You don't need to figure your client out, have all the answers, or convince them of an emotional explanation. You assess, you follow the process, and you facilitate what's there.
That's the practitioner I want ERT to help you become.
Meet Karlie
Hi, I'm Karlie McKeand, Naturopath and founder of Emotion Release Technique™.
Before I ever taught ERT, I needed it myself, sitting across from clients I knew I wasn't fully reaching. I could get the physiology right, the plan right, the supplements right, and some clients still didn't shift. I knew there was something else going on, and I needed a way to work with it that was structured, individualised and grounded in the clinical work I already loved.
So I saw a need, and I built a way to fill it.
I'm also a Metabolic Balance practitioner. I love this program. The plan is incredible and we know that if our clients followed it, they would get the results. But we also know that following it isn't always easy. That's the layer so often missing in our consultations, and it's exactly what ERT was created to address.
I'm a practitioner teaching practitioners. I still work with clients in my own practice. Every part of the process has been shaped by real consults, real presentations and real people.
Training practitioners has become one of my favourite parts of this work. What I want most for the practitioners I train isn't just a new technique. It's that feeling of walking into a consult knowing you can trust yourself, trust the process, and support your client in a way that truly makes a difference. And knowing that every practitioner I train goes on to support clients I'll never meet is what lights me up.
ERT Certification
Learn the skills to bring the ERT lens into your Metabolic Balance practice.
ERT Certification is a 12 week practitioner training designed to teach you how to confidently assess and facilitate Emotion Release Technique™ with your clients.
Throughout the Certification, you'll learn how to apply the ERT lens across a wide range of client presentations, from physiology and symptoms through to behaviours, emotional responses and mindset, and what helps a client not only reach their results, but keep them.
The Body
Weight and metabolism
Explore the stress responses, emotional patterns and protective mechanisms that may be relevant when a client's weight isn't shifting, even when they're following the plan. Add another lens to the plateaus, the regain and the body that seems to be holding on, alongside the metabolic work you're already doing.
Hormonal balance and menopause
Bring another layer to hormonal presentations, from cycle irregularities through to perimenopause and menopause. Explore the stress, emotional and identity patterns that may be relevant during these transitions, alongside the physiological drivers you're already assessing.
Gut and digestive health
Explore the relationship between stress, emotional responses and nervous system patterns, and the way clients experience and respond to digestive symptoms. Particularly helpful for the client whose gut seems to react to life as much as it reacts to food.
Cardiovascular and metabolic health
Broaden your lens when supporting blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and overall metabolic health. Explore how chronic stress and emotional load may be relevant to what you're seeing in the blood work, alongside appropriate clinical care.
Sleep, energy and rest
Look beyond sleep hygiene to what may be influencing a client's ability to switch off, rest, recover and feel energised in their day.
Fertility and reproductive health
Explore the emotional, stress and nervous system patterns that may be relevant when supporting fertility and reproductive health alongside appropriate clinical care.
Immune and physiological load
Broaden your lens around chronic stress, immune responses and the patterns that may be contributing to ongoing load on the body.
Stress & The Nervous System
Stress, past and present
Explore how current and past stress can influence the way a client responds, adapts and experiences what's happening in their body and their life, including the way they respond to change, structure and a new way of eating.
Safety, threat and protective responses
Understand how the nervous system's drive towards safety can sit beneath resistance, avoidance, control around food and all or nothing thinking, patterns that can so easily be mistaken for self sabotage or a lack of willpower.
The Emotional & Mental Layers
Mood and emotional wellbeing
Explore the emotional patterns, triggers and responses that may be contributing to how a client feels, how they eat, and how they move through their everyday life.
Mental health presentations
Learn how the ERT lens may complement appropriate mental health care by exploring relevant stress responses, emotional patterns, beliefs and behaviours, while recognising your scope and when additional support is needed.
Beliefs, identity and thought patterns
Assess the beliefs, internal narratives and identities that may be shaping how a client sees themselves, their body and their health. The "I've tried everything," the "nothing ever works for me," and the quiet belief that they'll always end up back where they started.
Behaviour, Change & Transformation
Behaviours and self sabotage
Go beyond telling clients what they "should" eat, and explore what may be driving cravings, emotional eating, resistance, avoidance and difficulty following through.
Goals and creating something new
Work beyond resolving what's "wrong" to support clients in moving towards what they actually want. Explore not only what they want to change, but what that outcome represents to them, whether it's a number on the scales, more energy or finally feeling at home in their body, and what may be influencing their capacity to take aligned action.
Receiving, maintaining and integrating change
Reaching the goal is only one part of change. Explore what happens when clients begin getting what they want, and the patterns that can influence their ability to receive it, sustain it through the relaxed phase and maintenance, and integrate it into who they're becoming.
ERT isn't about learning that a particular symptom, behaviour or body system has a particular emotional meaning. No two clients are the same, and two people can walk in with the very same presentation, even the very same blood results, and have completely different things going on underneath it.
So rather than guessing what's happening or relying on a list of predetermined associations, you'll learn how to use a structured assessment process to identify what's relevant for the individual client in front of you, and then facilitate the ERT process from there.
That's what makes ERT so individualised, and so powerful in practice.

How You Can Use ERT In Your Metabolic Balance Practice
One of the things I love most about ERT is how naturally it fits into the way you already work. There's no one right way to use it, so you get to shape it around your practice and your clients.
Offer an ERT session before a client begins the program, to explore what may get in the way before it does
Use ERT in your follow ups when a client is struggling to stay on track, or when they start sabotaging their progress just as things are working
Support clients through the transition into the relaxed phase, when the structure loosens and old patterns often resurface
Use it in maintenance, to help clients sustain their results and feel at home in the body they've created
Create a premium Metabolic Balance package that includes ERT alongside the program
Offer standalone ERT sessions, or become the practitioner other MB practitioners refer to
Work in person, online or in groups, giving you complete flexibility in how and where you practice
And wherever you bring it in, you'll always have somewhere to go. No more sitting in a follow up wondering what else you could suggest, or quietly hoping your client will just try harder this time. When something isn't shifting, you have a process to assess what's actually going on underneath, and the skills to do something about it.
For a lot of practitioners, this is where ERT really starts to change things. It deepens the support you can give, and it gives your clients a far better chance of keeping the results they've worked so hard for.
What Your 12 Week Certification Includes:
01. PRACTITIONER SKILL
A structured process you can confidently use when you recognise there may be an emotional, subconscious or nervous system layer influencing what you're seeing. You'll learn to assess rather than assume, to facilitate rather than fix, and to support the whole person without feeling responsible for having all the answers.
02. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
You bring you into every consult. Your confidence, your beliefs, your relationship with visibility and receiving, your sense of worth and your willingness to step into something bigger all shape what you create in your practice. That's why your Certification includes 3 months of Alignment Mastermind.
03. PRACTICE EXPANSION
ERT gives you another skill to weave into what you're already doing. As your skill set expands, so do the conversations you can have, the patterns you can explore, and the ways you can grow your practice.
Alignment Mastermind:
Included In Your Certification
3 months complimentary access, valued at $999
You've done the training. You know you're good at what you do. So why does growing your practice still feel so hard?
You can be an incredible practitioner and still find yourself holding back from being visible, undercharging or questioning your value, overthinking decisions, or procrastinating on the very things you know would move your business forward. Sometimes the thing holding your business back isn't another strategy. It's the patterns playing out beneath it.
Strategy tells you what to do. Alignment helps you address what's getting in the way of doing it.
Alignment is an ongoing weekly mastermind that brings together business mentoring, practical strategy, mindset, identity and ERT. We don't just talk about what's holding you back. I use ERT to help you assess and work with the subconscious patterns, stress responses, beliefs and identities influencing the way you show up in your business.
Inside Alignment, we work on money and receiving, visibility and being seen, confidence and self trust, clients and growth, pricing and value, energy and burnout, identity, and self sabotage and resistance.
It's somewhere to work on the patterns keeping you stuck, while you're learning to support your clients with theirs.
